“Girls!” The president of Potenza is sexist with the players, it’s a storm on Donato Macchia-Corriere.it

He could just say that his Power he hadn’t played well in the challenge home against Avellino (in fact, the match ended 2-4 for the guests on Wednesday) or, at least, that his players hadn’t been up to par with their opponents. Instead Donato Macchia, president of the Basilicata team and entrepreneur active in the publishing, real estate and energy sectors, came out with a euphemistically unfortunate phrase to describe the bad performance offered by his team.

We have to apologize to the fans. Our players were sissies on the pitch and it’s fair to say that, commented in fact the patron of Potenza after the match of the Serie C championship (group C), thus falling into the usual, sad common place
according to which if a male does not play football well he is weak and, therefore, a girl and thus justifying the sexist reproach. Passing over the fact that there are girls who play better than many men, Macchia’s declaration appeared even more out of place, because it was broadcast during the regional news of Basilicata and it would probably have gone unnoticed if the service in question hadn’t ended up on social media, filling up with criticism.

He also denigrated women, not surprisingly we read in one of the many comments on Twitter, where the video went viral. For now, Macchia, who in the last few hours has been struck by a family mourning (he lost his mother), has not apologized or wanted to go back to a story which, as was easily predictable, is instead making a lot of noise.
