A mid-level player, who retired in 1974, he then embarked on a coaching career that lasted until 2007. Beyond the palmars (a B championship won with Pescara in 1987 and four promotions in Serie A) and the teams coached (only 8 seasons in Serie A out of 24, with Pescara, Perugia, Naples, Ancona and Udinese), his name is a constant point of reference both for the tactical aspects and for the philosophy (including of life) underlying his project. On 4 March 2013 he officially retired from football, refusing the bench of Pescara, perhaps the team to which his name is most closely linked.
