New Municipal Theater, Sunday 2nd October

In October, jazz takes center stage in Ruvo di Puglia on the occasion of the thirteenth Ruvo Coro Festival. It starts on Sunday 2 October in the New Municipal Theater at 8 pm with the music of Rossana Casale accompanied by Mario Rosini. The title of the concert is “Jazz Memories” as the two will stage the thirty years of musical career of the artist born in New York and who has conquered the public since the seventies. The artist has recorded a total of 17 albums, ranging from jazz to pop, and has undergone numerous tours around the world and thousands of concerts in Italy. In his long career he sang pieces by Luigi Tenco, Giorgio Gaber, Sergio Endrigo, Bruno Lauzi, Fabio Concato, the French poets Jaques Brel, Barbara, the Brazilian ones Vinicius De Moraes, Chico Buarque de Hollanda, Toquinho and many others, also singing for the Maestro Riz Ortolani.

Alongside Rossana Casale there will be Mario Rosini, an Apulian musician and singer. Between the eighties and nineties he participated in the musical tours of Anna Oxa, Grazia Di Michele, Mia Martini, Rossana Casale and Tosca. In 2004 he participates in the competition at the Sanremo Festival with the song Sei la vita mia and arrives in second place, behind the winner Marco Masini.

The next appointment of the Ruvo Coro Festival will be held on Sunday 23 October with the “Roma Opera Ensemble” of the Teatro dell’Opera di Rosa Foundation. The Ruvo Coro Festival organized by the “Michele Cantatore” Polyphonic Choral Association, with the artistic direction of Angelo Anselmi, with the patronage of the Municipality of Ruvo di Puglia (Evoluzioni) and, for these three concerts, with the special collaboration of the Nuovo Teatro Municipal.

Arancini treasure hunt, Orsara di Puglia (Foggia)

Sunday 2 October, 10 am

On Sunday 2nd October Orsara di Puglia will also become the setting for the “Hunt for Orange Treasures”. It is an event organized by the Touring Club in the 100 municipalities that have won the “Orange Flag”, a mark of tourism-environmental excellence for the inland towns. The appointment is at 10 am and then at 5 pm in the afternoon. Looking for roads and clues, the participants will follow an itinerary that branches off in the heart of the historic center of Orsarese: from the Abbey complex, up to the ancient cave of San Michele, passing through noble palaces and monumental fountains. It will be played in teams and anyone who successfully completes the hunt will receive a reward from the territory. The event is free and open to all, but it is necessary to register through the website www.bandierearancioni.it. Actors of the project are Chirico Staffieri and Vincenzo Cericola, two young people who, also in August, together with a large group of girls and boys, organized an orienteering competition in which over 100 people took part.

With the treasure hunt, Orsara also celebrates 13 years of the orange flag, a recognition it won in 2010. Over the past 20 years, the town has focused more and more on its vocation for quality tourism. Throughout the year, the stone streets and squares of Orsara come alive thanks to numerous events. In the itinerary to discover the beauties of Orsar, there are the Grotta di San Michele Arcangelo, the church of San Pellegrino built in 1527 and that of the Annunziata. Christian temples of rare beauty, such as the Sancti Angeli Abbey dating back to the eleventh century. A series of historic houses and monuments such as the Baronial Palace and the New Fountain are of great interest.
