Super Italia in the men’s cross-country skiing team sprint first leg in Livigno, in Alta Valtellina. Federico Pellegrino and Francesco De Fabiani they took second place behind France. Pellegrino, after the seventh place in Saturday’s sprint, gave way to redemption and already in qualifying he had done something extraordinary, setting the best lap time, leaving his mark on the competition. A result that arrived thanks to the great feeling with teammate De Fabiani, an excellent relay runner in this race format: in fact, the two had already been able to conquer a world medal in the Team Sprint.

France wins

The two blues always led a race in the podium area, just a few seconds from the top, with a monumental Pellegrino who attempted a comeback in the last lap, reaching up to second position to fight for victory in the sprint. Success for the France I team made up of Renauld Jay and Richard Jouve, by only 44 cents ahead of the Italy I team. The Swiss Janik Riebli and Valerio Grond closed the podium, slightly further back. The performance of Italia II was also excellent with Davide Graz and Simone Mocellini who conquered the fifth position with a truly top-level performance.
