Filippo Magnini: the victories, Federica Pellegrini, Giorgia Palmas, the (false) accusations of doping, Masterchef, the watch

Philip Magnini He turns 41 today. Considered together with Giorgio Lamberti to be the best freestyle swimmer ever in short distances, he won, among other things, an Olympic bronze medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay in Athens 2004 and became world champion in the 100m for two consecutive editions in 2005 and 2007. As a child he had started playing tennis, ball and basketball, but in the end, starting to compete almost exclusively as breaststroke before changing his style (just like the king of middle-distance running Gregorio Paltrinieri), swimming prevailed. His palmars speaks of 17 European golds and 36 Italian titles until 2017, when he left the business at 35 at the end of the Italian championships in Riccione. His personal bests are 48 ”04 in the 100m style (Rome, 2009) and 1’46” 89 in the 200m (Riccione, 2009).
