Fernando Alonso runs faster than time. At 41 and a half years old (he was born in Oviedo on 29 July 1981), the former Ferrari driver – now an Aston Martin driver – climbed onto the podium in the Bahrain Grand Prixthe first race of the 2023 Formula One World Championship, preceded only by the two Red Bull drivers: the reigning world champion, Max Verstappen (25 years old) and his teammate Sergio Perez (33 years old).

Alonso, the first victory twenty years ago
Fernando is eternal: he made his Formula One debut in 2001, with Minardi, he won his first race twenty years ago, in 2003, in Hungary, and at the time he was the youngest driver to win a race in history of his sport. In his career he was world champion twice, in 2005 and 2006 with the Renault team and triumphed at Le Mans 2018, 2019 and Daytona 2019. Those were the years in which he retired from Formula One, after the disappointing 2018 season with McLaren. Then, in 2021, the return to the Circus with Alpine, with which he finished third in the race in Qatar, returning to the podium after seven years, three months and 25 days since the last time, in Hungary, in 2014, with Ferrari. The Rossa is his great pain: he drove it from 2010 to 2014, obtaining three second places in the drivers’ title.
