After a successful career in pools all over the world, Federica Pellegrini wants to work to create better conditions for young athletes of all disciplines. The 34-year-old former swimming champion spoke about it this afternoon during the presentation of her autobiography Oro di lei at the Mondadori bookshop in Piazza Duomo in Milan. Federica can realize her ideas thanks to her presence in the IOC athletes commission, where she was elected in August 2021. According to the gold medalist of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, it would be necessary to introduce a similar body in every sports federation Italian.

«Every Federation should have an athletes commission to understand each other better. There is a communication problem between managers and sportsmen,” he explains, also thinking of the numerous pressures that have grown over the years with the exponential increase in the visibility of sportsmen in the era of the perennial interconnection of social networks. Federica thinks that every single discipline needs different solutions: «The problems are different from sport to sport. Every athlete has hers ».

The meaning is to put the lessons learned in the moments of discomfort experienced during his career at the service of young people. Those feelings told in his autobiography of him where he has not hidden anything. Now, however, the former Venetian swimmer has to face the lack of adrenaline after abandoning the races: “But I’m not yet ready to try it again by doing the downhill with Sofia Goggia”, she jokes at the end of the press conference about the friendship that binds her to the skier from Bergamo.
