F1, the Imola GP worries. Bad weather also hits the circuit: paddock evacuated

Bad weather hit theEmilia Romagnawith the red alert – extended by the President of the Region, Stefano Bonaccinialso on Wednesday 17 May – which worries the organizers of the Imola Grand Prixsixth round of the world of Formula One, scheduled between 19 and 21 May. Of concern are the levels of Santernothe river that flows next to theEnzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack, also known as the Santerno Circuit. The tributary of the Rhine would have touched the orange alert threshold, even if no problems were reported on the track. The area of ​​the facility most affected by the heavy downpours would be that of the paddock, already flooded during the 2014 flood.

Bad weather, paddock evacuated at Imola

The Civil Protection has ordered the evacuation of the paddock in the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola. The decision was taken as a precaution, considering the flooding of the Santerno river. No flooding of the track, therefore, but the authorities continue to monitor the situation. Given the current conditions and weather forecasts, the Formula One Grand Prix is ​​not at risk at the moment. As a precaution – in addition to other city streets – some roads near the plant were closed: traffic was blocked along Via Tiro a Segno, along the opposite bank of the river, and the Tosa bridge, near the curve of the same name.

“We are concerned above all about the health of the Emilians and the problems they have at the moment. On the GP we hope with all our hearts that the situation will normalize on Thursday, it should be a rest day due to bad weather and the Santerno should return to the riverbed of the river”.
