7 minutes left Verstappen improves further (1:13.615), second Piastri, third Hamilton. Sainz sixth, Leclerc sixteenth. The Monegasque would be sensationally excluded at the moment together with Tsunoda, Russell, Albon and Sargeant.

The competition is currently trying to limit the damage, including Ferrari which has brought a series of updates to Spain. The three free practice sessions that preceded qualifying always saw the Red Bulls in the lead.
