European Games, Italy triumphs: first in the medal table with one day to spare

Italy won the third edition of the European Games a day early. A triumphal closing for the blue team that conquered success climbing to 28 golds, 24 silvers and 38 bronzes for a total of 90 podiums: an arithmetically unattainable loot for Spain and Ukraine, separated by 8 golds (20 each). The penultimate day at Krakow brought another 11 medals and the 11th Olympic pass, the individual qualification of George Malan in the modern pentathlon. The blue played an increasing race, dominating the laser run and gaining a double satisfaction: gold medal and ticket to Paris in his pocket, while Matteo Cicinelli and Roberto Micheli (in any case decisive for giving Italy bronze in the team rankings) they will have to take advantage of the next opportunities. He already had the guaranteed Olympic pass, however, Alice Soter. In front of her daughter Ginevra, however, the Piedmontese was not satisfied, going on to win the gold medal ahead of the Spanish Laura Heredia and the British Olivia Green, while Elena Micheli, already qualified for the Olympics thanks to the victory in the Cup final of the World last month, finished in 11th place.

Skeet shooting, gold for Pellielo and Rossi in the mixed team

Another positive day ended at the Wroclaw Shooting Center for trap, already a protagonist with the gold medals won by Jessica Rossi and Mauro De Filippis in individual competitions. In the mixed team Italy repeated itself by conquering the gold with Giovanni Pellielo and Jessica Rossi (6-4 to Great Britain in the final) and the bronze with Mauro De Filippis and Giulia Grassia (6-4 to Finland in the challenge for third place). Another podium also arrived in target shooting, the seventh of the entire expedition. The trio made up of Riccardo Mazzetti, Andrea Morassut and Massimo Spinella took the bronze in the 25m pistol team event by beating Ukraine 16-4 in the final for third place.
