The action takes place between a country of Friulian Dolomites and the city of Udine, plus spectral than ever, according to the geographies dictated by the various Film Commissions: a masked killer leaves one behind trail of blood; a female police commissioner, Teresa Battagliatries to solve the crimes by overcoming the many contradictions he hides within himself. “Flowers above Hell” is the new TV series directed by Carlo Carlei, co-produced by Rai Fiction with Publispei, based on the novel by Ilaria Tuti (Rai1). Teresa Battaglia (Elena Sofia Ricci) is an expert profilers almost sixty years old, arrived from the city with his team, made up of the chief inspector James Parisi (Gianluca Gobbi) and the young inspector Massimo Marini (Joseph Spata). The alleged murderer lives in the woods, moves like a ghost” and leaves macabre traces of its passage; clues to be interpreted as encrypted warnings, like pieces of a mysterious puzzle. There are not only crimes to solve, but also something more treacherous: Teresa Battaglia must face the first symptoms a disease which threatens to interfere heavily on his investigation work.

Having given up the nun’s clothes, Elena Sofia Ricci faces here a new adventure interpretive: presents itself as a tough womanstandoffish, rejecting, as if to hide one side more fragile and insecure, as if to deny himself an increasingly intrusive illness that hinders his work. Rai fiction has now reached one writing standards more than acceptable: however it is not easy to make children act, especially if they are carriers of social messages (victims of abuse by indifferent and often violent adults); if, on their frail shoulders, the burden ofindistinction between good and evil.
