I don’t know what will happen at the end of the year. Because there is the field, Europe, commitments every three days, but always a lot of transfers. Paulo Dybala – who came out of the first European away match in 2023 with an overload on his flexors – not the only one who periodically dribbles questions about the future with those eight words so as not to go beyond the neutral field. But in the press conference on the eve of the first leg of the Europa League playoff against Salzburg, the Argentine had also left two other issues open: how much his future in yellow and red can be linked to that of Jos Mourinho (I would like to be coached by him); there clause included in his contract upon arrival in the capital. Or better,
a double clause
; and because it changes according to the eventual destination (series A or abroad), and because to have the last word in one case the Giallorossi club while in the other Dybala.

The clause for Italy

More than a simple rescission clause, one could almost speak of partnerships. Of a synergy between clubs and top players. Or in any case of an agreement that is closer to this definition than to the classic one which provides for the release of a player for a certain amount. In this case, being precisely double, the costs become two: one valid for transfer in Italy and another for a foreign destination. The Italian figure of 20 million euros. But Rome has the possibility of canceling it only in one way:
increasing the player’s salary and bringing it to 6 million. Translated: the Giallorossi club, faced with an interest from an A club for Dybala, would have the last word and the possibility of retaining the player by canceling the clause but at the same time making the salary of the player rise by almost double Argentine. And, conversely, if the club agrees to let the player go? The expense for the acquiring company would be 20 million in total but of these only 80% would go to Roma while the remaining 20% ​​would go to the player.

The clause for foreign countries

For abroad, however, the clause has a smaller amount: 12 million. The mechanism is the same as the clause valid for Serie A but in this case the last word would be up to the player who, for example, would not remain indifferent to a call from certain teams of Premier League. In any case, Roma could also cancel the clause in this case but in this foreign context, the last word will only be with the player who will therefore have the possibility of expressing a certain preference. A decision-making power which, however, would no longer give the right to that 20% of the sales figure, as would instead happen for the Italian solution. The foreign option would therefore bring the entire amount into Roma’s coffers.
