Diana Kipyokei positive for doping: she won the 2021 Boston Marathon

The 2021 Boston Marathon winner, Kenyan Diana Kipyokei and compatriot Betty Wilson Lempus have been temporarily suspended for doping. In tests, triamcinolone acetonide was detected: it was announced by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU). Both are also accused of obstructing the AIU’s investigation by providing false information and documentation. However, this is not a rare case in Kenyan sport: as many as ten athletes have tested positive in the last year for triamcinolone acetonide, a substance that is banned if taken in certain ways.
