OSIMO – The awareness campaign on solidarity legacies starts again “There is a thin line between your life and theirs” from the Lega del Filo d’Oro Onlus Foundation, which sees as protagonist Renzo Arbore, historical testimonial and friend of the institution. The goal is to promote the importance of a gesture as a testamentary bequest able to live forever and capable of guaranteeing the Foundation the possibility of long-term planning of one’s own activities and of carrying out the most challenging projects, providing effective responses to the needs of deafblind and multi-psychosensory disabled people throughout Italy.

For families an invaluable gift. Children, teenagers and adults with deafblindness and multiple psychosensory impairments face the difficult challenge of going beyond darkness and silence every day. But with the right support and the best professionalism, those small, precious, daily goals – like the first “hello” pronounced after so many years of silence, like the satisfaction of having finally found a way to communicate with others or, again, like the reconquest of simple actions, which have become difficult if not impossible to carry out – represent priceless gifts for the families of these people. For these reasons, choose to make a solidarity legacy in favor of League of the Golden Thread it means contributing, in a concrete and lasting way, to guaranteeing a better and more accessible future for those who cannot see or hear. A future full of possibilities.

How to make a difference. In fact, thanks to the generosity of many Italians who have chosen to commemorate the “League” in the last will, today the Foundation can continue to make a difference for its users and their families, always guaranteeing a high standard of service and reaching more people, in different territories, through the opening of new offices throughout Italy. These are objectives that require important investments, capable of looking beyond the present. To promote the great importance of a gesture capable of living forever, the Lega del Filo d’Oro relaunches the awareness campaign on bequests “Between your life and theirs there is a thin thread”, which sees Renzo Arbore, historic friend and testimonial of the institution.

Timely interventions for children under 4 years. “The important work done by the League of the Golden Thread it needs a lot of attention and care, but also planning capable of looking to the future. Through an act of love and generosity, we will be able to plan our activities for the long term, guaranteeing concrete responses to the ever-growing requests that arrive every day – says Rossano Bartoli, president of the League of the Golden Thread – this translates, in fact, into personalized educational and rehabilitation programs, in many more early diagnoses to intervene promptly on children under the age of 4 and in constant growth at a local level, to be ever more present and close to our users and their families thanks to the opening of new branches. Making a legacy of solidarity in favor of those who cannot see or hear is an act of responsibility within everyone’s reach and even a small contribution can make a difference”.

Wills are among the main props. Testamentary bequests represent one of the main forms of support for the League of the Golden Thread and in 2022 more than one hundred received the Foundation. A significant fact that confirms not only the reliability of this constantly growing tool – as a simple and non-binding gesture, which can be rethought, modified at any time, without in any way harming the legitimate rights of loved ones and family members – but also of the Organization’s unceasing commitment, which thanks to their contribution has been able to enhance, over time, the services offered in favor of its users and a continuous implementation of its structures. To allocate a solidarity legacy to League of the Golden Thread it is not necessary to have large assets, even a small part of one’s savings is enough to make a difference. Another possibility, increasingly common among Italians, is to name la League as a beneficiary of a life policy: these resources do not enter the estate and will be immediately usable.

That thin thread. The awareness campaign on solidarity bequests of the League of the Golden Thread is inspired by that “precious thread” – from which it takes its name Foundation – which has been uniting deafblind people to the outside world since 1964 with the aim of leading them beyond the darkness and silence imposed by their disability, to support and promote their path towards the greatest possible autonomy. The willingness to make a contribution to change a piece of the world for the better and the desire to leave a trace of oneself find a concrete answer in the legacy of solidarity, so much so that never before has the League received many requests for information on the matter. It’s a way to be there, forever.

What does the League do? Today the League of the Golden Thread is present in ten regions and follows around 1000 users from all over Italy every year by carrying out its assistance, education and rehabilitation activities for deafblind and multi-psychosensory disabled people in the Territorial Centers and Services of Osimo (AN), Headquarters of the Institution, Lesmo (MB), Modena, Molfetta (BA) and Termini Imerese (PA) and in the territorial offices of Novara, Padua, Pisa, Rome and Naples.
