Dead Dominique Lapierre, the author of “The city of joy” – Corriere.it

French writer died Dominique Lapierre. He was born in Chtelaillon, La Rochelle, in 1931. In the 1950s and 1960s, due to his work as a reporter for the Paris Match newspaper, he stayed in India, an experience from which he later drew the inspiration for the bestseller The city of joy (1985), published in Italy by Mondadori. In 1982, with the support of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, he and his wife founded the association Action pour les enfants des lpreux de Calcuttato which he donates half of his royalties, in favor of schools and centers for the fight against leprosy and tuberculosis.
