De Sanctis: “This is what the new Casa delle Bocce will look like”

He fought for years with that grit he certainly doesn’t lack: but now Giunio De Sanctis, president of Federbocce in his second term, sees the finish line. And an even brighter future for his sport.

He explains: “At the Torrino Federal Technical Center, finally, thanks to a total contribution of 2.2 million, it will be possible to implement a project conceived since 2017, i.e. since my election. For Fib it is a source of pride, above all for the difficulties there are in carrying out projects on sports facilities in a large and important city like Rome”. And not just in Rome. “We are now awaiting the formal act from the Minister for Sport, but we are already considering entrusting the task to a professional to prepare the definitive project for the redevelopment of one of the most important bowling centers in the world, providing the central and territorial offices (Lazio/Rome). This is our first goal.”

To go into more detail on the new Casa delle Bocce, explains the president, “the two-storey federal headquarters will be built, for the national Fib, for the Lazio Regional Committee, for the Capitoline Delegation and for the Unifib consortium, which will certainly be incorporated in the SSD Sandro de Sanctis, so as to have a body capable of carrying out institutional sports activities and supporting the national sports facilities”.

But the work doesn’t end there. Although “resized” by the naturally reduced contribution compared to what we had budgeted – De Sanctis explains – we will implement the guesthouse, elevating the area to a multipurpose sports facility, in order to open up to other sports and truly unite our movement in a of all the bowling enthusiasts, to the advantage of the image of the Fib and of the Roman community. The entire plant will be made more efficient with the most modern alternative energy systems and the main bowling alley, in particular, by installing a cold-hot ventilation system inside it, which to date does not have one (there is only the cold one). This last innovation will also be foreseen for the two gyms. The changing rooms will be overhauled in line with current regulations, other rooms will be built in the guesthouse, a 12.5-metre swimming pool will be installed and 2/3 padel courts will be created. What are the deadlines for the completion of the works? At the same time as the next elections. It will take a year and a half, at most two”.

It is an ambitious project: “Yes, – concludes the federal president – it is a facility coveted by many sports, such as fencing, gymnastics, volleyball, traditional sports, combat sports and the disciplines of certain promotional bodies”. The dream is turning into reality.
