The 2022 activity of the Italian Bocce Federation is about to end. An intense sporting season, characterized by the Raffa Junior World Cup and the Rome 2022 World Boccia Challenger, both organized by the FIB, led by the president Marco Giunio De Sanctis, and held at the Torrino Federal Technical Center, in the Eur district in Rome. To close the year, on 17 December, the traditional appointment with the FIB Award, the event through which the Oscar of Italian bowls is awarded. The prestigious event, now in its 41st edition, will be held in the hall of the Temple of Vibia Sabina and Adriano (Piazza di Pietra), on the afternoon of Saturday 17 December.

“There is the idea of making the FIB Award, historically held between the Marches and Rome, itinerant and with an international connotation – the words of the president Marco Giunio De Sanctis – This year the ceremony will be held at the Temple of Hadrian, in the heart of Rome, testifying to the importance of the prize. Among the guests of the 2022 edition, the actors Nancy Brilli, Enzo Decaro, Manuela Arcuri, Francesco Paolantoni. To present, together with Lisa Gritti, there will be the famous voice actor Stefano De Sando, showman of the evening. Within the show, also a Spanish dance performance by the dancer Lorena Salis. The president of Coni, Giovanni Malagò, and the president of Cip, Luca Pancalli will be with us”.

De Sanctis continues: “We will deliver twelve statuettes: three clubs, four athletes, a manager, a coach, a referee, a sponsor and a special prize. They are the ones who have distinguished themselves during the last season, but also during their careers. It was an exhilarating season, difficult to repeat. We have organized two World Championships and it will be difficult to repeat a season with two world championship events, both for the logistical and organizational effort but also for the economic one. We were returning from a 2021 with hiccups due to the pandemic, while in 2022 we resumed with the amount of events, demonstrations and competitions that Federbocce includes in its specialties and disciplines “.

“We have also been protagonists of some first editions of events – the president explains – such as the Raffa National Super Cup, won by Caccialanza in Termoli, in Molise, the two international events in Rome. But also the launch of the web TV, Top Bocce, represented a very great novelty, very popular and appreciated, with which we aim to make ourselves known outside our world. 2023 will be an important year for Paralympic Boccia. We have hopes with some athletes, such as Garavaglia, Marchisio, Targa, Zanelli, Gilli and Zendron, of being able to qualify for the Paris 2024 Paralympics. It would be important for the whole boccistic movement to be present at the Five Circles review “.
