MILAN – Is titled “I do well” the program of Don Gnocchi Foundation, Holy Family Foundation and Lega del Filo d’Oro Foundation – in network with other realities active in the field of assistance, care and rehabilitation of fragile people such as Endo-FAP, Acli, Caritas Italiana and Anci Lombardia – approved and financed by the Department for Youth Policies and the Universal Civil Service in the ambit of the 2022/2023 tender for the overall employment of 483 young people between the ages of 18 and 28 in projects in numerous regions of Italy alongside people with disabilities or the elderly. A renewed commitment on the civil service front, within a strengthened collaboration between entities with proven experience and competence, to guarantee the professional consistency of the projects.

The desire for gratuitousness and solidarity. “The civil service experience that we are proposing also for next year in Italy but also abroad – underlines Don Vincenzo Barbante, president of the Don Gnocchi Foundation – wants to respond to the desire for gratuitousness and solidarity present in many young people. The challenge for us operators of the Foundation is to get involved with attitudes of service towards the girls and boys who choose to undertake the journey within our Centres. The bet is to give life to an effective and wise training course and we will only be able to win it if we know how to mutually listen to each other, because the treatment of frailty means above all relationship”.

“A valuable experience”. “That of the Universal Civil Service – declares Don Marco Bove, president of the Holy Family Foundation – it is a valuable and growth experience. For young people who offer their service in our structures, alongside frail, disabled and elderly people, it is an experience that takes on even greater value as it allows them to give and receive within the relationship of assistance and care. This closeness, physical and emotional, is one of the most effective tools we have today to teach respect, altruism and encourage volunteering even among the youngest. Furthermore, sometimes the experience of the civil service in our structures can prove to be an opportunity for orientation towards a future professional path in the field of assistance to the fragile person”.

The opportunity to acquire new skills. “Through the civil service in our reality – adds Rossano Bartoli, president of the Lega del Filo d’Oro Foundation –, you will have the opportunity to acquire new skills and live an experience of solidarity and human growth alongside those who cannot see or hear, favoring valuable relationship opportunities Volunteers will have the opportunity to work in a point of reference Organization in Italy for deafblind and multi-psychosensory disabled people, helping them to emerge from their isolation made up of darkness and silence». The young people who will face this experience by serving in the various assistance realities of the promoting bodies in Italy or abroad will support the social-health personnel in the care of the assisted persons, guided by professionals in the sector. The proposed courses will be accompanied by an intense training activity (over 100 hours on different topics), with certification of the skills acquired and recognition of university credits and internships.

Commitment for 25 hours per week. The proposals for 2023 join those currently in progress, given that a significant group of young people (74 in all) is serving in the structures of the three promoting bodies. A journey that in recent years has been capable of making the experience of the young people involved an extraordinary opportunity for personal and professional growth, sometimes going so far as to reorient their professional development paths. The commitment for young people will consist of 25 hours a week, with a monthly salary of 444.30 euros. To present your applications, you must access the published notice by 10 February. To receive support in submitting the application, it is still possible to contact the managers of the promoting bodies.
