The Aldo Moro Institute participated in the initiative of the Napoli Novantanove Foundation "The school adopts a monument"

This morning the pupils of the first degree secondary school of the IC "Aldo Moro" of Casalnuovo assumed the guise of true "Ciceroni" and guided the citizens of Casalnuovo to the knowledge and discovery of the Church of San Giacomo Apostolo il Maggiore, a important monument of the historical-artistic heritage of the area. The Aldo Moro Institute of Casalnuovo once again participated in the initiative of the Napoli Novantanove Foundation “The school adopts a monument”.

The initiative was also realized thanks to the availability of the parish priests, first Don Oreste Bonaiuto and now Don Mario Briante, and under the patronage and contribution of the Municipal Administration of Casalnuovo which attended the event in the person of the councilor for patrimony Crescenzio Visone. The Aldo Moro Institute is a particularly active school and has been participating in this project for years. We also made presentations at the Royal Palace, the boys are very good - declares Mirella Stampa Barracco, president of the Napoli Novantanove Foundation - I am particularly pleased that thanks to the work of the boys a parish is known and adopted. Bringing the school into contact with monuments enriches the monument, in this case a parish, but also for the children who begin to get to know the new monuments they take care of. This year the school has adopted the Parish of San Giacomo which is located on Corso Umberto di Casalnuovo, a valuable building from the early 1500s which belonged, as a private chapel, to the Como barons of Casalnuovo.

My compliments to the boys for the work they have done and for the invitation to take care of the historical and cultural heritage of the city, declared councilor Crescenzio Visone. The project, which has a three-year duration, has seen, during the first year, the students involved in the study and interpretation not only of historical sources but also of paintings and sculptures. The inscriptions in Latin present on some epigraphs have allowed them to approach even a language they do not study at school. It's always nice when there are initiatives of this type - Mayor Pelliccia declared - to bring young people closer to the world of art and to the protection of our heritage, good for the entire community. It means that all of us, together, are working so that our architectural and other assets can be appreciated and protected by future generations. The students of the Aldo Moro Institute felt they were an active part of the educational project, they learned while having fun and developing transversal skills. The students were guided and encouraged by professors Menichini, De Cristofaro and Mocerino, who were able to take advantage of the precious contribution of the lawyer Mario Perna, local scholar of church history and art lover. The initiative is part of the educational and didactic choices of the IC Aldo Moro, which intends to place itself in the territory as a place of formation of the person, as an educational environment that places the student at the center of its action as a person, in every aspect, in a dimension of active construction of knowledge, skills, human and social relationships - says the head teacher of the Aldo Moro Institute, Professor Maria Rosaria Visone - For several years now our Institute has been pursuing the goal of opening up to the territory and even more, today , collaborates with organizations and associations for the knowledge and enhancement of the cultural heritage of our town.
