Here are the films present at the event, where our three Italians stand out
«Il sol dell’avvenire» by Nanni Moretti, «La Chimera» by Alice Rohrwacher, «Rapito» by Marco Bellocchio in competition for the Palme d’Or 2023.
The three Italian titles were announced by the general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival Thierry Fremaux in the official conference in Paris of the official selection of the 76th edition (16-27 May 2023) with the new president Iris Knobloch.
Italy hadn’t had three films in competition since 2015, while the last Palme d’Or won by our country dates back to 2001 when Nanni Moretti won with “The Son’s Room”.
The other films in competition this year that have been announced so far are: «Club Zero» by Jessica Hausner; «The Zone Of Interest» by Jonathan Glazer; “Fallen Leaves” by Aki Kaurismaki; «Les Filles D’Olfa (Four Daughters)» by Kaouther Ben Hania; “Asteroid City” by Wes Anderson; “Anatomie D’Une Chute” by Justine Triet; “Monsters” by Kore-Eda Hirokazu; « Kuru Otlar Ustune (Les Herbes Sèches /About Dry Grasses)» by Nuri Bilge Ceylan; «L’été Dernier» by Catherine Breillat; «The Passion De Dodin Bouffant» by Tran Anh Hung; May December by Todd Haynes; “Firebrand” by Karim Ainouz; “The Old Oak” by Ken Loach; “Banel Et Adama” by Ramata-Toulaye Sy (First work); “Perfect Days” by Wim Wenders; «Jeanne Du Barry» by Maiwenn and «Jeunesse» by Wang Bing.
The highly anticipated new film by Martin Scorsese, «Killers of the Flower Moon», will be hosted Out of Competition. This section will also be screened “Indiana Jones”while in Special Screenings there is «Occupied City» by Steve McQueen.
