Basketball, fourth playoffs: Milan and Virtus Bologna overwhelming in game-1, Venice also wins

Trouble-free debut for Milan in match-1 of the playoff quarter-finals against Pesaro. The reigning champions prevailed 94-68 making the difference already in the first quarter in which they posted a 15-0 run to which Repesa’s men were unable to respond. The best at the end in Olimpia were Baron (19 points), Datome (17) and Shields (12). In the ranks of Pesaro only Kravic (13 points) and Totè (11 points and 8 rebounds) stood out.

Virtus Bologna avalanches on Brindisi

Even easier to win for Virtus Bologna who swept away (104-68) Toasts at the end of a match dominated from start to finish. Scariolo’s men finished with 5 men in double figures: Cordinier (15 points), Ojeleye (14), Teodosic (12 with 7 assists), Hacket (11) and Mickey (10 and 8 rebounds). On the opposite front, Reed’s 18 points and Perkins’ 17 were useless.

Venice bends Sassari thanks to Watt and Willis

The most balanced challenge took place in Venice where the Reyer he had to struggle (82-79) to win the point of 1-0 up Sassari, capable of recovering from -12 to -1 in the last quarter. The 4 points scored in the last minute by Willis who kept the Sardinians at a distance were decisive. The best among the lagoon players was however Watt (19 points and 7 rebounds), followed by Bramos (12 points). In Sassari the 16 points each achieved by Robinson and Dowe and the 13 (with 5 assists) by Diop were not enough. All three races-2 will take place on Monday evening. The last quarter, however, between Tortona and Trentowill open on Sunday at 6pm.
