Basket Florence, the club against Palazzo Vecchio: «We left alone, where is the sponsor?»

“We are with our backs against the wall, the time for promises has run out and we have the bad feeling of having been left alone, without the slightest concrete act on the horizon, with urgent decisions to be made about the future that are up to each of us». It was another long day for Pallacanestro Firenze. And not just for the difficult match played against Piacenza. After weeks of silence on the on the subject of unpaid salaries and the related press release from the players’ union, the club took the floor in a long press release. In the end, unfortunately, after unnerving feasibility hypotheses that all failed, the only building available was the PalaCoverciano. In recent months there has been talk that various companies of the caliber of Tamoil, Zurig Assicurazioni and others would have given their names and the indispensable financial contribution to support the project. Today hopes have faded, despite the commitment that they tell us is still maximum”. Mayor Nardella didn’t like itbut beyond his silence, the picture is clear: Palazzo Vecchio had indeed given its willingness to bring important sponsors to Florence, but on condition that they see a sports project, a horizon that went beyond the summer proclamations. Instead, Pallacanestro Firenze risks crumbling a few months after its birth. Saturday will be exactly 30 days without salary for the players who therefore, at the end of the regulation, will have the possibility of no longer training with the group and not participating in the matches (the trip to Rieti on Sunday is at risk). In a meeting in the locker room, the club (which still owes Pino Dragons 35,000 euros for the sporting title) would have asked for further patience and in fact no player has yet formalized the club’s formal notice.
Bushati, however, seems to be the first on the starting list, but offers would also have reached Ndoja. All while the club openly speaks of a “total lack of dialogue” with the sole red and white administrator Forti Parri, chosen for the role “by the president of Q2 Michele Pierguidi”. It’s not enough though. Because yesterday morning even coach Gresta had expressed his anger via partner: «We’re going to train: zero hours of sleep, zero! — You wrote — Where do you get the strength to give everything to fight in the field? With the respect, affection and esteem you feel for every player and collaborator who, like me, is experiencing a surreal moment. We don’t do this sport just out of passion, however, there are mortgages, children, etc. ”
