Exactly one week after the riots in Ruvo di Puglia, at the end of the basketball match between the home team and Juvecaserta, Apulian basketball continues to be talked about for episodes that have nothing to do with sport. The violence, this time outside the playing parquet, tarnished the good series B match which saw Lions Basket Bisceglie oppose and Adriatica Industriale Basket Corato, which ended with the victory of the Biscegliese team. While the players were preparing to face each other on the playing field, outside a group of rioters with covered faces awaited the arrival of the Adriatica Industriale fans welcoming them with firecrackers, smoke bombs but also bats and umbrellas. Several calls to the police, since the order service set up for the race was not sufficient to tame the uproar that took place under the frightened eyes of crying children. The Coratina club speaks of an ambush set for the arrival of our fans and denounces the act of vandalism against the vice president Pieraldo Capogna, whose car was damaged when the tires were cut. This non-sport was vented to society with a post spread on social networks.
A situation from which the Lions Basket Bisceglie club has also distanced itself from which, however, it has claimed that its fans were not involved in the attack. The episodes that took place outside the PalaDolmen before the match against Basket Corato have nothing to do with sport and leave us dismayed, above all because individuals unknown to us, never seen before, were responsible for some unseemly actions. first and most likely not even biscegliesi justifies society. We are dismayed by what happened and we completely distance ourselves from certain attitudes, apologizing to the company and to Corato’s supporters, who have always been welcome to our system, he adds. The company also informs that it has immediately and repeatedly alerted the police and that several of our managers, together with internal security, had already done their utmost to block these subjects. We remain disgusted, like Corato’s friends, for what unfortunately happened – they conclude – but it seems ungenerous to confuse some exaggerated people who have never attended the PalaDolmen in their life with our fans. The police forces are working to reconstruct what happened outside the PalaDolmen and identify those responsible for the unfortunate episode which, fortunately, did not cause any injuries.
