Who are the thirty finalists, how to vote, the times of the ceremony and where to see it. All you need to know about the Golden Ball, now in its 66th edition

It assigns the Ballon d'Or 2022, now in its 66th edition. Karim Benzema, the French striker of Real Madrid, the big favorite. Whoever wins will be the successor of Lionel Messi, awarded in 2021 after the victory of the Copa America with Argentina, which is not among the 30 on the list. And this is already news: the absence of a champion who has won six. Tonight the last doubts will be resolved in the prestigious ceremony live from the Thtre du Chtelet in Paris. It will be broadcast on Sky Sport 24 and on Mediaset Channel 20 (it will start at 8.45 pm and link from 7.45 pm) and streamed on NowTv and Mediaset Infinity. On the same evening, the women's Ballon d'Or, the Kopa Trophy and the Yashin Trophy will be awarded, respectively, reserved for the best footballer in the world, the best Under-21 player and the best goalkeeper.

How to vote: the parameters

The Ballon d'Or has changed its formula this year. Or rather, it has undergone a change in the criteria and methods of evaluation, which do not give weight to the respective careers, but take into account parameters such as fair play, the class of the individual player and above all the vintage played. France Football was forced to change the rules after the enormous controversy produced by the umpteenth success of Messi in 2021.

The finalists

There are 30 finalists. There is no Lionel Messi, while Cristiano Ronaldo is present. Some suspect that CR7 may still be in Paris, despite not being the winner of this edition (many difficulties at Manchester United in recent months), to reward his friend Benzema, with whom he played in Real Madrid. In case of success of the center forward, he would be the fifth Frenchman after Kopa, Platini, Papin and Zidane. Instead, there is no Italian among the finalist candidates; three who play in Serie A: Maignan and Rafael Leao of Milan and Vlahovic of Juventus.
