Atlas, every teacher counts: the prize for projects from schools is back

There is something extraordinary about every teacher. Above all: in school, teachers count, and meeting the “right” teacher or teacher has changed the lives of who knows how many of us. They are the beliefs that accompany “Atlas – Italian Teacher Award”, award for the best Italian teacher, established in 2018 by United Network in collaboration with “Republic@School” and in partnership with the Varkey Foundation (the teachers’ “Nobel Prize”). And that returns for this 2023 edition (this is the site: www.italianteacherward.it).

But the aim is not only to participate in a contest (however prestigious) dedicated to teachers. The most ambitious one is to make known what is beautiful, useful and important that is done in schools often amidst a thousand difficulties, recognize the value and social role of teachers in Italy, bring out their work, often little considered, as well as the creative initiatives and originals they promote.

It is the goal already achieved with the public online platform in which all the projects are shown, consulted, valued. And with almost 1500 projects arrived in two years, Atlante has probably already become the largest public platform of its kind in Italy.

All teachers can apply. Applications may be submitted by teachers of all levels (from kindergartens to secondary schools) via a online procedure available on the Repubblica@Scuola website or on the Atlante website. There is time until March 31, 2023. Up for grabs are three educational trips to New York in 2024, to discover the most innovative educational realities in the Big Apple.

The three winners (one for kindergarten and primary schools, one for lower secondary schools and one for upper secondary schools) will be announced on Friday 5 May 2023, at 10 am, during a ceremony to be held in Rome, at the Brancaccio Theater. The event will be streamed on Repubblica.tv.
