A concept that is often heard repeated by those who deal with sustainability strictly speaking is that sustainability is a process. This is an important criterion for evaluating the solidity of the green communication. The Italian infrastructure holding company obtains an improvement in the opinion compared to 2021 in relation to nine of the eleven parameters considered in the analysis. Atlantia’s commitment is concentrated on two fronts: lo development of sustainable infrastructure that enable the energy transition towards low C02 emission mobility for the community and the decarbonization of the processes and activities of the group.

The path to zero emissions

Atlantia has been a forerunner in Italy with regard to transparent planning of initiatives to combat climate change, by submitting its decarbonisation plan to the vote of the shareholders (the so-called “Say on Climate”), which aims to eliminate direct CO2 emissions by 2040 and to promote the decarbonisation of economic activities along the entire value chain in the motorway, airport and mobility services sectors. The plan received more than 98% of favorable votes, an absolute consensus among the highest recorded in the European assemblies which expressed themselves, in the 2022 assembly season, on the same issue.

Sustainability at the heart of corporate strategies

During this year the focus on Esg themes has been strengthened by the adoption of the framework of sustainable finance (Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework), which establishes the full integration of sustainability into corporate financing strategy, in a context of growing importance of these issues for global capital markets.

“Cdp Climate’s rating is further confirmation of the improvements recorded by Atlantia during the year in the evaluations of the main ESG rating agencies”, underlined the company. Recalling the leadership positions also for Moody’s Esg (Advanced, i.e. the highest level), Msci Esg ratings (AA – industry leader), FTSE4Good (best 5% in the sector), Iss Quality Score (highest level on all ESG aspects), Refinitiv (best 3% in the sector), Sustainalytics (highest level equal to neglible Esg risk), Glio/Gresb Index (highest level of the rating, equal to A).
Furthermore, in 2022 Atlantia was included for the first time in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, thanks to its constant commitment to gender equality issues.
