The Assembly of members of the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS), shared the text of the new Statute, confirming Marcella Mallen and Pierluigi Stefanini as Presidents for the three-year period 2023-2025, entrusting to Enrico Giovannini the role of Scientific Director ea Giulio Lo Iacono that of Secretary General. The renewed Statute will be operational in the next few days, after formal approval, while the composition of the Scientific Committee will be defined in the first months of the new year.

The Assembly also shared the 2023 activity schedule and new dates for the seventh edition of the Sustainable Development Festival, which will take place from 8 to 24 May throughout Italy, through hundreds of events (this year there were 986) which will involve institutions, public administrations, universities, schools, companies, associations and citizens.

The reform of the Statute takes into account the extraordinary evolution accomplished by the Alliance in the nearly seven years since its founding in 2016which led ASviS to be recognized as one best practices international in the reports of the United Nations, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Commission and the European Parliament.

The new Statute was defined through a process that in recent months has involved over 300 civil society organizations that adhere to ASviS and share the commitment to promote the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDSGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030.

With the renewal of its governance, the Alliance is preparing for the next challenges to accelerate the transition towards sustainable development and intensifies its commitment to achieve the goals set for 2030 by the UN and the European Union, from which Italy is still a long way off, as highlighted in the 2022 Report and in the recent Report dedicated to the territories.

In this perspective, the Assembly agreed on the strategies and priorities of the work program for 2023which will focus on education and training for sustainable development, the dissemination of the contents of the 2030 Agenda and the involvement of Italian society in its implementation, the monitoring of the country’s progress towards the 17 SDGs, the elaboration of proposals for policy to accelerate this path and the realization of research and publications.
