Are there HPV tests for men?

Unfortunately, there are currently no safe tests that allow the diagnosis of human papilloma virus (HPV) in males. The most effective tool we have today for making a diagnosis is the objective examination, i.e. a careful detection of potential symptoms after a good medical history, done during a normal specialist visit sometimes performed by a urologist, andrologist, dermatologist, ( in particular in the case of warts) or by the otorhinolaryngologist (for HPV-related pathologies of the oropharynx and base of the tongue).

My girlfriend has a papilloma virus lesion. Do I have to get vaccinated?

It may be useful in some cases to carry out the HPV test also in males; although the collection site for the detection of virus DNA is not as well established as in women (cervix or vagina), HPV DNA testing can be performed in males at the level of the urethra, balanopreputial sulcus, oropharynx (with swab or with a mouthwash in toto), and today studies are also underway on urine.

Does it make sense to get vaccinated against HPV if you have been in a stable relationship for many years?
