Aid to the homeless: various places of hospitality are available with hundreds of beds

ROME – Even this year Salcef Group SpA., a leader in the railway infrastructure sector, supports the Community of Sant’Egidio in some projects in favor of those who are more fragile. In particular, the company is committed to helping people in housing shortages in Rome, for which Sant’Egidio offers various places of hospitality with hundreds of beds. These centers, in addition to guaranteeing a dignified welcome, offer hot meals and accompany guests on a path of reintegration into society. In this way many people have managed to recover from situations of serious difficulty, rediscovering family ties, accessing retirement or other forms of economic support and, in some cases, starting to work again.

The effects of increasing poverty. “The support of the Salcef group to our welcome for people in housing emergency in Rome – says Cesare Zucconi, secretary general of the Community of Sant’Egidio – represents an important aid that we hope will continue in the coming years. In this time of crisis, marked by the economic consequences of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, he added, poverty has increased sharply, putting many in difficulty and particularly affecting the most fragile subjects. This worries us a lot and asks everyone for a renewed commitment”.
