From the pandemic to the war, up to energy independence from Russia. Beyond the rhetoric and the usual clichés, our country has shown itself to be serious and flexible, not very violent and not extremist, capable of making sacrifices and able to adapt without hysteria to a changing world

Look at that number and tell the truth: would you have ever said that? A responsible, flexible, non-violent, non-extremist country, capable of making sacrifices and able to adapt without hysteria to a changing world. If you were told that this is the nature of Italy, you would think that whoever says that has drunk one tequila too many, right? Among the many lies that Italy tends to tell about itself, there is a sensational one that deserves to be urgently archived and which concerns a characteristic that the perceived Italy often tends to throw against the real Italy: the indiscipline of our country. The Italians, and together with them the major media outlets, don’t waste time, you know, in describing our country as if it were a den of potential criminals, a den of exaggerated rebels, ready to throw a tantrum, ready to descend in the streets to protest, ready to let us experience warm autumns and ready to create the right opportunities to cheat on others (after all, as claimed by a famous magistrate who we do not want to quote just to save him the trouble of having to lose another lawsuit against us, there are no innocents, there are only guilty people not yet discovered).
