After 40 years the rich still cry (on screen)

Between films like “Triangle of Sadness” and series like “White Lotus”, no one envies these elites anymore. In “Succession” all humanity is removed. Could it be a new stratagem of the class struggle?

The first episode of “Los ricos tambien lloran”, in Italian “Even the rich cry”, was released in Italy forty years ago, broadcast in 1983 on Rete A, then from 1984 on the Euro TV circuit and from January to August 1993 on Network 4; the last broadcast on national television dates back to 1996 on the Odeon TV circuit. With 248 episodes it was one of the most watched soaps or telenovelas in the history of Italy (they were still called that, they weren’t yet “series”, they were a subcultural consumption not to be bragged about, there was no proud expression “Network A and Chill” to say that one stays at home in pajamas and slippers like today watching Netflix).
