ROME – How to measure the work of the Cooperation? This is the incipit question of an article published on Africa and Businessthe monthly magazine on the continent of the future, directed by Massimo Zaurrini. L’Italian agency for development cooperation (Aics) asked itself this question and answered realizing it Atlas for Development (A4D), a platform that will allow everyone to easily access and consult the main indicators on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. A4D will be presented today, Monday 15 May, (starting at 3 pm) in the Sala Malliani of the University of Milan, within the Sustainable Development Festival organized by Asvis.

The best way to direct resources. L’Agenda 2030 of the United Nations for Sustainable Development focuses on data as a tool to monitor and analyze progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and to better target resources. In particular, it is extremely important to have harmonised, timely and accessible data for all. In this A4D framework, it will allow for both ad Aics giving the public access to all the main indicators on SDGs provided by international sources, such as the World Bank, the WTO or the Ilo, and compare them easily.

Fully automatic procedures. Compared to databases currently in use, he reports Aics, A4D will have the advantage of collecting, updating and standardizing with fully automatic procedures thousands of indicators from qualified international sources. A4D will have a worldwide geographical coverage with different keys of territorial and geo-political aggregation and will allow to classify the indicators according to the reference framework of theAgenda 2030. The advanced functions of A4D will allow those directly involved in the project to use the platform to produce automatically updatable reports on the progress of theAgenda 2030 or on other topics of interest.
