Administrative elections, eight candidates supported by the “Forum Inequality and Diversity” and by “Ti Candido”

ROME – In local elections this spring Let’s get Electedcampaign promoted by Inequalities and Diversity Forum and from Candide you, will support eight women and men with different skills and professions, some at their debut in institutional politics, others with experience behind them, all united by the desire to spend themselves for their territory after years of activism. The aim of the campaign is to give concrete support and contribute to the election of candidates who place the fight against inequalities and social and environmental justice at the center of their political action and who are an expression of the civic fabric they are applying to represent.

Innovative experiments. Many major issues pass through cities and local authorities: innovative experiments can come from the Municipalities, rights denied at a national level can be practiced in the Municipalities. And even the often tiring grounding of the PNRR is a sign of how important politics and administration are at the local level and how useful it is therefore to elect people who have roots in the territory and are willing to work to change it for the better. The eight selected have led battles in recent years to avoid environmentally harmful projects, have become promoters of initiatives to support children and young people, festivals and moments of aggregation, citizen participation and political discussion. They care about the reduction of economic, social, gender and generational inequalities, the fight against the climate crisis with attention to its social repercussions, the improvement of the living conditions of citizens and citizens.

Once again this year applications have arrived from numerous contexts that go to the vote: the eight selected were chosen with a method that took into account gender balance, territorial distribution, with particular attention to young people, women, people with a migration background. The selected candidates are an expression of communities, social alliances and territorial civic coalitions, and carry forward, in their territories, concrete proposals of social and environmental justice, on which the alliance between Candide you And ForumDD.

Distributed in seven regions of Italy. Among them are 3 women, 6 under 40 and come from different civic or party backgrounds. Two are mayoral candidates and six are aspiring councilors and councillors. “We want to continue on a path that has borne fruit: to get passionate people elected and to help them work together”, add the founders of the committee Candide you. “Changing things from cities and towns, innovating and showing even at the national level that the precariousness of work and the absence of ideas on how to deal well and quickly with the ecological transition are not the only possible way”.

Funds raised from small donations. Let’s get Elected raises funds for the campaigns of these candidates and supports them with ideas, advice, training and, when elected, promotes exchanges and community building of elected representatives for social and environmental justice. The money raised comes from small donations from individual citizens who donate to the campaign fundraiser, open until the election deadline. Since 2019, also thanks to the contribution of those who participated in the crowdfunding, first the Ti Candido Committee and then the “Let us Elect” campaign, which also involves the Inequality and Diversity Forum, have brought 40 politicians into the institutions, including councilors regional, mayors and municipal councilors and councillors.

Supported candidates and candidates. The candidates for the administrative elections of 14 and 15 May selected and supported by Let’s Elect 2023 and for which fundraising is active:

– Priya Kewal, 25, candidate on the Noi per Camposanto list for the Camposanto (MO) city council
– Marco Maddalena, 45, candidate on the list of the Democratic Party for the municipal council of Ferentino (FR)
– Leonardo Nicolai, 31 years old, candidate on the Civic Coalition list for Vicenza for the city council of Vicenza
– Paolo Tuttoilmondo, 51 years old, candidate in the Loyalty and Sharing list – Green Left Progressives for the Syracuse city council
