There are broken stories that remain written in the air, dyed in the clouds. That of Gaetanina known as Nina Scotto Di Perrotolo and Antonio Raimondo are a breath of memory in the sky above Procida. A cultural project between music and narrative is dedicated to the nurse and the helicopter pilot who “fell” on the island on November 18, 1995, during an air rescue mission that ended in tragedy: a concert for two reciting voices and cello and a book. The languages of art only partially manage to fill the judicial gap. For those deaths, in fact, there is no culprit yet that day the island was evidently swept by a very strong wind. Grazzanise (where Raimondo was born), Caserta and Procida therefore recall the sacrifice of these two generous workers who died on the job.
On 26 November, in Terra Murata, in the abbey of San Michele Arcangelo, it will be staged I don’t sell my tears. Dialogue between the woman of the island and the man of the boat (then in the 2023 programming of the City of Caserta), curated by the Teatro del Pratello. THEThe concert is signed by Paolo Billi and Davide Forbicini, set to music by maestro Luca Signorini, first cellist of the San Carlo, and recited by the actors Viviana Venga and Fulvio Accogli.
It all flows into the book Distant echoes from Paolo Miggiano for the Terra Somnia publishing house. Four sections of the editorial project: Sharp sky. Low altitude survey narrates the fictionalized reconstruction of the tragic events; the second proposes aImpossible dialogue between Antonio and a friend; the third section contains the updated edition of the volume To die in Procida, published one year after the tragedy, with the testimonies of friends and colleagues of Nina and Antonio which remains a highly effective document; the fourth offers the text of the show proposed again as part of the initiatives of the Capital of Culture.
The book will be presented on November 22 in Procida in two meetings: the first, coordinated by Professor Francesca Intartaglia, at 10, at the Capraro comprehensive institute and in the afternoon at 17 in the Council Chamber where, for the occasion, a «friendship pact» will be signed between the Municipality of Procida and that of Grazzanise. The mayor of the island Dino Ambrosino, that of Grazzanise Enrico Petrella, the delegate for culture of the municipality of Procida Michele Assante Del Leccese, Maria New Year and Manuela Lubrano Lavadera will discuss it with the author. On December 15th it is repeated in Grazzanise.
