Amico & Co activates a photovoltaic system on site

With an investment of about one million euros, the Amico & Co shipyard has taken a step forward towards the creation of a clean factory. In fact, the new photovoltaic system installed at the headquarters of the Genoese company, which ranks among the leaders in the world in the sector of repairs and refurbishments of super and mega yachts, has come into operation.
Thanks to this plant, which is the largest ever built by private individuals in port areas in Italy, the company will produce 53% of the energy needs used by the shipyard and the Waterfront Marina (area in which Amico operates), from renewable sources.
Maximum power from one megawatt
Overall, the installation develops a maximum power of about one megawatt peak, has 1,782 solar panels and occupies an area of about 4,300 square meters, making use of the roofs of the sheds and structures of the shipyard and marina. and was built, on behalf of Amico, by the Ceresa Next company.
Over the years, a note explains, there have been numerous interventions aimed at eliminating emissions from boats that stop at Amico & Co for work or in the marina and reducing the impact of repair work.
Long green path
In 2007-2009 there was the electrification of the docks of the shipyard, in 2010-2014 the construction of sheds and fixed structures (docks) able to confine and efficiently isolate the boats during work; in 2019 is the construction of the Shiplift, the system for hauling, launching and handling units up to 95 meters in length totally electrified with zero emissions in situ, in 2020-21 the new Waterfront Marina, where parked yachts are connected to the network electricity and sewage.
