The difference of views on some points has therefore been overcome as demonstrated by the experimentation of smart working, which will take place in 280 branches (compared to the initial 171) of the Banca dei Territori and the Private Division with a consequent greater possibility of use by people.

Smart working but with meal vouchers

Smart working from home was initially guaranteed only in the central offices, while the unions instead asked for it to be extended to the network as well for a minimum right of use. The parties have agreed that it can be progressively extended to all network personnel. And as evidenced by the increase in the meal voucher from 3 euros to 4.50 per day for agile work days from home (the workers were asking for 7 euros as at the moment for all employees when they work face-to-face). As for the short week, there will be 40 large branches of the Banca dei Territori (previously 12) where it will be applied with a structuring of hours that provides for 9 hours on 4 days (with a reduction in weekly hours from 37.5 to 36 hours) on a voluntary basis and on equal pay according to the technical and operational needs of the company. Furthermore, from 1 November the staff of over 250 small branches will be able to request and voluntarily use the short week, on the day the branch is closed (between Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).

Forty thousand subscriptions

The agreement reached between Intesa Sanpaolo and the trade unions also envisages the continuation of the possibility of using an flexibility of entry hours (starting between 7 and 10 with relative shifting of the end of work time) both in the case of smart working and in the face-to-face work, even working during the short week. From January, when the new measures were launched, to the end of April, the bank says, 40,000 people have joined the new flexible workforce, equal to about 70% of those who could have been enabled before today’s agreement – governance structures and branches – and about 17,000 people per week, equal to 60% of the full-time staff of the governance structures and 12 large branches.

Today’s agreement is an important one which, gathering the contribution of the many colleagues who took part in the recent meetings, makes it possible to go beyond individual contracts, thus reiterating that collective agreements are the best way to manage the bank’s major changes in a constantly evolving context, comments the Fabi coordinator of Intesa Sanpaolo, Paolo Citterio.
