The director Liliana Cavani, 90 years old, will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 80th Venice International Film Festival. The decision was taken by the Board of Directors of the Biennale, which endorsed the proposal of the Director of the Exhibition, Alberto Barbera. I am very happy and thankful at the Venice Biennale for this beautiful surprise, declared Cavani, who has participated in the Venice Film Festival since 1965 with Philippe Ptain: Trial in Vichy, Lion of San Marco for the documentary.

Another Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement was awarded to the Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu-wai.
