Act one: to save the Movement from the caudine gallows of the vote, recovering consensus with a campaign on the left or – to put it as a Count – of a progressive nature. Second act: to make a combative opposition to return to 30%, as the first party at the national level. This is the idea that circulates and was already circulating in the weeks of the election campaign among the Five Star leaders. To pay the costs of the increase in support of the Movement is first of all the Democratic Party.
And it is precisely to the dem, former allies in the large field, Giuseppe Conte could parade other consensus, to the point that there is talk of a hostile takeover of the M5S on the Nazarene party.

Now the battle between the two political forces moves to the field of peace demonstrations. The contian ranks swell with the support of some artists and intellectuals such as Moni Ovadia, who yesterday targeted the dem: «If Conte had not launched his demonstration for peace where if I am free I will gladly go, the Democratic Party would never have made a sit in for peace in front of the Russian embassy. It is clearly an instrumental initiative ».

Today the M5S will desert the sit in (even if Letta specified: «It is not organized by us»): «The demonstration of the Democratic Party under the Russian embassy is linked to a party. Peace cannot be appropriated. We are in dialogue with various networks that are promoting a demonstration to bring forward a universal theme, that of peace, which must not have party flags but must be a demonstration of all », Alessandra Todde reiterated on Radio Anch’io. And the president of the Movement is ready to raise, betting his chips on the square that will see the M5S in the front row. The event will be held in November in Rome (rumors indicate Saturday 5th), will be organized by Arci, Acli and other associations, many of which traditionally on the left: another step towards that progressive world.

According to the indiscretions collected by Adnkronos, Conte would also have invited Beppe Grillo: a move that shows how much the Movement is counting on this occasion. The guarantor, in fact, followed the electoral campaign from a distance and did not even participate in the closing rally.

The leaders, however, do not want to hear about the takeover bid. Conte, to whoever pronounces it to him, denies that there is something like this: it is an expression that he does not like and that he considers very distant from the serious and demanding path that his 5 Star Movement is making, which “goes straight on its way, carrying out its battles with coherence”.

“The mistake they make at the headquarters of the Democratic Party, perhaps due to their deformation – he explains to his followers – is to believe that the positions that the Movement has taken on issues such as work, the fight against social inequalities, the environment and peace , are instrumental, dictated by electoral calculations. They did not understand that behind each of our positions, on the other hand, there is a refounding process and renewal that starts from ideas and projects that have characterized the history of the Five Stars, a path that today allows the Movement to relaunch itself also in political action ».
