Of Adriana Logroscino

For the former FI MP, music and politics have been lifelong passions. "I can't tell which came first." And then the books, the exhibitions, the imitations. «All activities that I carry out professionally, not as an amateur. I'm a perfectionist"

A reflection on speed cameras, the theme of one of his ancient battles, and a new album to be released, the first after the stop imposed by the pandemic, first, and by the electoral campaign, then. It's a day, if not almost like, for Simone Baldelli, 50 years old, Roman, former deputy of Forza Italia, but always involved in politics. In recent days he has published "Roma Rio", a piece of music with a Latin sound, but "easy-going", as Baldelli himself defines it. So much to aspire to the title of summer catchphrase.

«You can't ask me to choose which passion is stronger between politics and music or even other genres with which I express my creativity - says Baldelli - it's like that dilemma about the chicken and the egg: who came first? I can't tell. Music and politics have filled my life since I was a boy." And in fact «Roma Rio» which holds together the high, a sonnet by Mario de Andrade quoted in the text, and the pop of the play on words between Rome and Rio, understood as the two cities, and Romario that is the immense Brazilian footballer with spent, also he, in the politics of his country, it is certainly not the first attempt by Baldelli, who has other recordings of unpublished works and covers to his credit, nor an amateur attempt. «I am a perfectionist and I believe in professionalism - he says - in fact I engrave in the studio and I make use of professionals as collaborators».

But not just the music. Baldelli has written books, including one of cartoons: "Stai serene, not so much", satirical cartoons inspired by those of Osho (according to Federico Palmaroli) and largely with Matteo Renzi, then Prime Minister, as a target. But also bears his signature a practical guide to the mysteries of Montecitorio and the contribution to a joint work: "Hands off the Biagi law". He is an imitator (apparently he is perfect in the role of Roberto Fico), he has performed live in the theater and has exhibited his pictorial works in various exhibitions. In short, an eclectic.

Politically he was a socialist, then a radical, finally always, since 1998, in the Berlusconi patrol. Left out of the race for parliament in the last Policies, those of last September, he had to leave the parliament where he had sat for four legislatures in a row. Among his battles, the one on the transparency of the proceeds from fines collected by the Municipalities and against the speed cameras used by local authorities to "raise cash".
