Rai way: Lega and Fi are already clashing over the nominations

The Rai board of directors is called to designate the chairman and CEO of its subsidiary. The names are those of Giuseppe Pasciucco and Roberto Cecatto (close to the League). Forza Italia gets in the way

The names are there but the agreement is not. At 19 the Board of Directors of Rai meets. On the agenda the indication of the top management of Rai Way, the investee Rai which owns the transmission towers and which Rai plans to sell. Rai is called to name two names: that of the president and that of CEO. Rai way’s board of directors expired in December, but the change of the current CEO, Aldo Manciniis unexpected and greatly worries financial operators.

The lenders, who read the news this morning, are perplexed. The favorites for the office of president and CEO are respectively Giuseppe Pasciucco and Roberto Cecatto. One is the chief of staff of CEO Carlo Fuortes (about to leave Rai to go to La Scala) while the other, Cecatto, is director of Rai Infrastructures. The latter is a man close to the League, a party that would thus obtain a valuable appointment, the first real appointment in a subsidiary. Pasciucco, on the other hand, had already held the position of chairman of the Board of Rai Way but had resigned. One of the reasons that convinced him to leave was the new position of chief of staff.

For years there has been talk of a merger project between Rai Way and Ei Towers, a company of the Mediaset group. The goal is to build a colossus of towers. As chief of staff, Pasciucco had deemed it incompatible to maintain the other position as well. Today the return, perhaps. The Board of Rai is in fact split. The votes are currently three to three. The vote of Marinella Soldi, president of Rai, now in conflict with Fuortes, weighs heavily. But the vote of Simona Agnes, close to Gianni Letta, appointed by Berlusconi to manage the nomination dossier, also weighs. In Rai the first clash on the appointments between Lega and Forza Italia is about to take place. The Mef, a Rai shareholder, and its minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, support Fuortes’ indications. Forza Italia, which must obtain and assert itself at the next table, obstructs. It’s just a naming drill and it’s already litigation evidence.
