Neil Webb, ex footballer for Manchester United and the national team now works as a delivery boy - Corriere.it

Webb has played for Manchester United and England at the World Cup. «I'm 60 and it would be nice if someone bought my shirt and cap, it would increase my pension fund»
A past with Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United and the World Cup with England (fourth place in Italia '90), but now Neil Webb is in trouble, in considerable trouble. On the pitch he was a midfielder - who could also play in defense - with a habit of scoring (he scored over 100 in his career, including four in 26 appearances for England). With the Red Devils, between 1989 and 1992, he won an FA Cup, a Cup Winners' Cup and a European Super Cup. Today Webb is 59 years old and going through a difficult period in his life. And he doesn't hide it: he's a delivery boy and to make ends meet he has to sell the memorabilia and memories of a lifetime.
After his career ended in 2000 with Merthyr Tydfil, a Welsh club, the former midfielder tried with no luck as a coach, then had to reinvent himself in another way, certainly not having earned the figures that football stars put in their pockets of today. After abandoning the world of football, Webb first worked as a postman and is now a delivery boy.
But things aren't exactly going very well, so much so that he deprives himself of some memorabilia that are very important to him: «I've done a lot of jobs in recent years and at the moment I'm a delivery boy - he told the Sun –. My generation made good money and you could buy a nice house, a nice car and give your children a private education. But for today's gamers it's a different world, I can't relate to their incredible salaries. I always knew I'd have to work after I stopped playing." And again, on the memorabilia he is about to sell: «In July I turn 60 and it would be nice if the shirt and cap (from the first call-up in England and debut in a friendly against West Germany in 1987, ed) went to someone who appreciates them. It will increase my pension fund. They are hung on the wall of the house and if nobody decides to buy them I will gladly keep them». From this sale he expects to recover at least 15 thousand pounds (17 thousand euros) to have some peace of mind for the future.
