[ad_1]

Of the 595 municipalities that voted on May 14 and 15, 41 will also face the second round. The polls will be open on 28 and 29 May. Voting takes place on Sunday 28 from 7 to 23 and Monday 29 until 15. As for the capitals, compared to the initial 13, there will be 7 cities in which the ballot will take place. It’s about Ancona, Pisa, Siena, Mass, Vicenza, Toasts And Terni. Local elections will also take place in Sicily and in Sardinia.

The ballots

Forty-two municipalities in all and seven capital cities. After the 4 to 2 collected by the center-right in the first round, the center-left tries to overturn the result and win back Massa, Pisa and Siena, which passed to the right in 2018 after decades of red domination. It is a pity that the progressive front, almost never united, is behind in almost all the cities that have reached the second round. Vicenza is the only exception. Here the candidate of the Democratic Party Giacomo Possamai – arrived at the top of the podium in the first round – could snatch the city from the center-right led by the outgoing mayor Francis Ruccosupported by the centre-right. Ancona, Terni and Brindisi remain. Cities in which the centre-left hopes for an Udine-effect and the centre-right to confirm the lead in the first round.

Sicily and Sardinia

The first round of municipal elections in Sicily and Sardinia will take place on 28 and 29 May. Thirty-nine municipalities in the first case and 128 in the second, of which 4 are provincial capitals: Catania, Trapani, Ragusa And Syracuse. Polls are open on Sundays from 7 to 23 and on Mondays from 7 to 15. Any ballot rounds will take place on 11 and 12 June. It should be noted that the Sicilian electoral law provides for the second round only if none of the candidates in the running exceeds 40 percent.
