Alex Marquez (Ducati – Gresini team) was fastest in the first free practice session at the Italian Grand Prix at the Mugello circuit. With a time of 1’46″121, the Spanish rider preceded the Yamaha of the French Fabio Quartararo by 87 thousandths and the Ktm of the South African Brad Binder by 104. First of the Italians Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati VR46) 4/o. The two are further behind riders of the official Ducati, the Piedmontese and championship leader Pecco Bagnaia at the moment only 16th, preceded by his teammate, Enea Bastianini.It went decidedly worse for Aleix Espargaro who slipped at the Bucine corner of the circuit and, once he got up from ground, he reached the pits very limping.
