MILAN. Letizia Moratti is preparing to run in the 2024 European Championships. The former mayor of Milan, who finished third in the Lombardy regional elections in February behind Attilio Fontana and Pierfrancesco Majorino, announced it today after a weekend of political confrontation which took place in San Patrignano with the participation of civic lists (starting from its Lombardia Migliore, present at the Pirellone with 4 councilors), associations, the Third Sector and exponents of civil society.
Also present were the former minister Gaetano Quagliariello, the former vice president of the European Parliament Mario Mauro, the former mayor of Messina Cateno De Luca and the economist Stefano Zamagni.
The idea is that of a platform-party «which is not a personal party with a top-down construction» but can be imagined as an inverted pyramid «that is, a party which has at the top the base of the various local experiences and at the base a top which it must unify the various instances». Another key point will be the presence of young people, which must be given room and space.
“We have a framework of values starting from civic spirit, which has its historical roots in the Italy of the municipalities of the thirteenth century, and in popular political culture, which puts the person at the center – Moratti said -. But in a rapidly changing world, in which the concepts of business, training, care for the planet, welfare, social policies, agriculture will and are changing, we need to translate our framework of values into a new political idea.
