The Ministry of Economy and Finance and Lufthansa they signed the agreement for the sale of a minority stake to the German group of Ita. "ITA Airways' development strategy will continue to be shared between the two shareholders". So reads the press release released at the end of the final meeting of the agreement between the Italian Minister of the Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti and German airline CEO Carsten Spohr. Also present at the meeting was the president of Ita, Antonino Turicchi. "With this government today, a knot that has been conditioning the air transport market in Italy for thirty years is untied", said Giorgetti.

These results will allow for the growth and renewal of the fleet, announces the Mef, which at the end of 2027 will count on 94 aircraft compared to the current 71, with an average age of five years, and will guarantee the optimization of consumption and environmental impact . The workforce, which is expected to grow to 4,300 employees this year as a result of the 1,200 hires being finalized, will rise to over 5,500 at the end of the business plan, which forecasts revenue growth of 2.5 billion euros expected for this year and 4.1 billion euros expected in 2027. Ita closed 2022 with a net loss of 486 million euros while revenues amounted to 1.576 billion.
