Industrial production in April down by 1.9%.  -7.2% annually

In April, Istat estimates that the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production decreased by 1.9% compared to March. The Institute makes it known in a note adding that
the overall index adjusted for calendar effects decreased in trend terms by 7.2% (calendar working days were 18 against 19 in April 2022). “On average in the February-April period, the level of production decreased by 1.3% compared to the previous three months”, Istat states. The seasonally adjusted monthly index marks cyclical decreases in all sectors, with negative changes for intermediate goods (-2.6%), capital goods (-2.1%), consumer goods (-0.4%) and energy (-0.3%). Declines are evident for capital goods (-0.2%) for energy (-12.6%), intermediate goods (-11.0%) and consumer goods (-7.3%).
