Ivan Menezes died after a short illness. British drinks group Diageo has made the announcement involving the company’s former chief executive. Menezes, born July 10, 1959, in Pune, India, had been with the company for over 25 years and has been the CEO since July 2013. He was expected to retire on June 30, 2023. Earlier this week, Diageo appointed Debra Crew as CEO effective immediately due to Menezes’ declining health.

Says Diageo president Javier Ferran: Ivan was present at the creation of Diageo and, over the course of 25 years, he shaped Diageo into one of the world’s best performing, trusted and respected consumer companies. I have seen firsthand his unwavering commitment to our people and creating a culture that allows everyone to thrive. He invested his time and energy in people at every level of the company and saw potential that others might overlook. This is one of the many reasons he was loved by our employees, past and present.
