New adventure for Walter Zenga. The former goalkeeper will leave the role of commentator for Sky Sport and will return to deal with the pitch in Indonesia
Walter Zenga is preparing to experience the umpteenth adventure of his life. This time starting fromIndonesia, but with a new assignment, unprecedented for him. Indeed, from 1 July it will be the technical director of Persita, club currently in ninth place in the table. His landing was favored by the former patron of Inter, Erick Thohir,
number one of the Indonesian Federation, which with Zenga wants to highlight the entire football movement of the country. One great goal: to improve one's image. The news was confirmed by Zenga himself, a guest as always in the Sky Sport studios: I'm going to be technical director for the next two years. I change my life again. I change everything, I get another experience. And I feel even younger because you always have to have a great desire.
Around the world
In his career Zenga has had many experiences away from Italy. As a coach he was a real explorer. He began his new life with the Americans of the New England Revolution, when he was appointed player-manager in 1998-99. After returning to Italy to restart from Brera, Milan's third team at the time (in Serie D), he resumed traveling the world. So from 2002 to 2007 he was on the bench of National Bucharest, Steaua Bucharest, Red Star, Gaziantepspor (Turkey), Al-Ain (United Arab Emirates) and Dinamo Bucharest. After the experiences in Catania and Palermo, he restarted his wanderings with Al-Nassr (Saudi Arabia), Al-Nasr (United Arab Emirates), Al-Jazira (United Arab Emirates), Sampdoria, Al-Shaab (United Arab Emirates) and Wolverhampton.
Finally, before Cagliari, he also coached Crotone and Venice. As a coach he won a Romanian championship (with Steaua in 2005), a Serbian-Montenegrin championship and a Serbian and Montenegrin Cup (with Red Star in 2006). In short, nothing was ever missing. He has a dream in his heart, to coach Inter one day. But in the meantime, for now, he's going to Indonesia. A country that still has the Nerazzurri in its heart thanks to Erick Thohir.
