Figure skating: Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri win world silver in dance

Another feat for the Italian cup composed by Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri. At the World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama (Japan), the reigning blue European champions won the silver medal in dance. The victory went to the Americans Madison Chock and Evan Bates, while the Canadians Piper Gilles-Paul Poirer, favorites of the eve, had to settle for the bronze.

For Guignard/Fabbri, fourth at the Montpellier 2022 World Cup, it is the first world championship medal of their career. This is the fifth ever for the blue dance. In the past, Barbara Fusar-Poli/Maurizio Margaglio boasted silver in 2000 and gold in 2001; Federica Faiella/Massimo Scali had grabbed the bronze in 2010; Anna Cappellini/Luca Lanotte had conquered the most precious metal in 2014. Italy's overall medals in the history of the World Cup rise to 14, two of which arrived in 2023. It should be noted that only in 2014, again in Saitama, the blue movement had obtained more than one world podium in the same edition.

Charlene Guignard (33 years, 224 days) and Marco Fabbri (35 years, 53 days) set a singular longevity record, becoming the youngest skaters to medal in dance. The other blue dance couple, made up of Manni/Rothlisberger, at their first appearance in a World Cup under the Italian flag with an 18th place, confirming the position occupied after Rhythm Dance.
