A small bonus directly in the bill for Enel Energia customers who will show attention to energy saving. This is the initiative that the group has devised to reward virtuous behavior: those who in the months of October, November and December 2022 consume less than a year before, will receive the bonus. This was announced by the CEO of the Enel group, Francesco Starace, speaking at a conference at the Luiss University in Rome: “We are looking for innovative solutions to reward those who will save energy in the coming months,” said Starace. In reality, the letters explaining the EssenzialMente initiative have already been reaching Enel Energia customers for several weeks.

How the bonus works

The bonus consists of 10 cents for each kWh saved in the months of October, November and December 2022 compared to the amount consumed in the three corresponding months of the year 2021. You do not have to do anything to join the initiative. The bonus, in fact, is automatically recognized by the second useful bill of 2023 or, in case of withdrawal and / or transfer, with the closing bill. Fixed-price supplies in the months in which the average value of the single national price (the Pun is the wholesale reference price of electricity purchased on the market are entitled to the subsidy, explains Enel in the letter sent to customers of the Italian Power Exchange) will exceed 400 euros per MWh. The reference data must be the real ones and not the estimated ones and if the contract with Enel Energia was signed within the last 12 months, the consumption data will be compared with the historical data of the Pod, the identification code of the point of supply if available in the Integrated Information System.

Enel’s vademecum

Beyond the small economic contribution, Enel’s goal is to raise the awareness of its approximately 9 million customers, both domestic and business, on the issue of energy saving. In fact, the energy crisis we are experiencing requires that everyone implement virtuous behaviors to consume as little energy as possible and thus mitigate the effects of and counteract the increase in costs. For this reason, in the letter sent to customers, Enel also included a sort of vademecum to save on the bill and thus be able to obtain the bonus more easily. To make the best use of energy, Enel recommends:
* disconnect the power supplies from the electrical sockets when not in use;
* avoid leaving objects on in stand-by mode;
* do not forget to defrost the fridge and freezer as soon as ice formations appear;
* start the appliances only when fully loaded and possibly in the most convenient time slot;
* use LED bulbs;
* regulate the room temperature without excess;
* keep the optimal temperature reached avoiding dispersions;
* when possible use the induction hob for cooking and the heat pumps for heating;
* choose appliances with a high energy class.
